Directed by: Paolo Tonoli

I shot this tabletop project with Paolo Tonoli directing for Moviechrome up in Milano. The brief was all about texture and restraint, which meant we had to nail the lighting to make small movements read. We went handheld on a lot of it to keep things intimate, letting the food and objects breathe without that stiff, over-lit feeling you get on some beauty work. The color palette was muted, almost monochromatic in places, so we had to be surgical with our key and fill to avoid it looking flat. It's one of those jobs where nobody notices the cinematography if you get it right, which is exactly the point. Tenderly required patience more than flash, and that's where the real craft lives.
