KFC Krystal

I shot this tabletop commercial for KFC Krystal in Amsterdam with director Natascha Brandt, and it was one of those jobs where the food had to sing without any tricks. We're talking crispy fried chicken that needed to look exactly like what you'd bite into, no hero shots of something that doesn't exist. The challenge was balancing the product's texture and golden color against clean, appetite-driven lighting that didn't flatten the depth. I kept the setup tight and controlled, letting the food's actual surface qualities do the work rather than relying on heavy retouching downstream. The whole thing hinged on understanding how light catches fried surfaces, where shadows fall in the crevices, and how to make something that lives in a fast-food context feel composed enough for a frame. It's the kind of work that looks simple until you're actually there trying to make a chicken piece look like itself, but better.
